We did, and as you may see - sometimes dreams come true!!

Hello everyone and welcome to El Toro. We are Paloma and Diego. We both came to this country in 2003. Diego came from Argentina, tired of a life working in a grey ofice in Buenos Aires. Paloma had just finished her studies in Madrid, and came to work as a psychologist in a Spanish NGO. Life wanted us both to meet and fall in love. And not only between us, we also fell in love with Nicaragua. We wanted to live here and build our world toghether!! We wanted to give Nicaragua back a little bit of what she had given us, also we needed a place to stay and a job to live from. So that’s why we decided to build this place and open a hotel. We didn’t have an idea of what we were doing, and it hasn’t been an easy road, but here we are, married and happy, owning a little hotel and restaurant by the ocean in Nicaragua. A wonderful place where the sky is still blue, where the sun shines everyday, where time goes by really slow…

But it is also a sad place. A place where human rights sometimes don’t exist, where thousands of children have to work everyday, where parents see their children die beacuse they can´t raise enough money for their medicines…

We’ve seen both Nicaraguas, and we work for them both. That is why El Toro is not only an hotel, it is also a dream, where 10 people work together as a team and learn from each other everyday.
